MICDS is blessed with an extensive, beautiful, and expensive physical plant.  It is within the principal mission of the School to maintain the physical properties of the institution in order to support or enhance its academic mission.  In this role, the Facilities Committee will review the condition of the physical plant at least annually and, based upon recommendations from the Administration, propose a level of spending necessary for providing for the needed repairs and or maintenance of the physical plant.

In addition, the Administration will make recommendations for the expansion or betterment of the existing facilities that are appropriate in order to meet the academic program requirements of the School and enhance its overall educational mission. The Facilities Committee will monitor all major projects and make certain projects approved and funded by the Board are properly managed in order to complete the expansion or betterment in accordance with pre-approved plans.

Over the next three years, the School will conduct a thorough evaluation of current and anticipated requirements, to ensure that its facilities and programs continue to provide unparalleled resources to its students in every academic discipline and extracurricular program offered by the School over the course of the next decade. The results of this work will be used to develop a Facilities Master Plan.

The Facilities Master Plan of the School will incorporate two distinct dimensions: a design and construction program that coordinates with both the Strategic Plan and a capital funding study encompassing the planning, construction, or renovation of facilities to support newer technologies and educational advances; and an annual preventative maintenance plan to mitigate unanticipated and expensive emergency repairs. The Facilities Committee will work in concert with the Finance Committee and the Administration to ensure that physical, conceptual and fiscal requirements and objectives are appropriately aligned and prioritized.
